“The Language and Culture Laboratory with the title ‘Language and Culture Centre’ belongs to the School of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Patras and was established through the renaming of the ‘Greek Language and Culture Lab’ (Government Gazette 3876/Β/20.06.2026).

The Centre focuses on teaching of Greek as a second/foreign language, teaching foreign languages for specific purposes, teaching Greek sign language, as well as promoting Greek culture and the cultures associated with the foreign languages taught.

The Centre is a novel academic unit that addresses issues of language policy and promotes multilingualism and multiculturalism  through educational and research activities in collaboration with other institutions both in Greece and abroad.

The Centre comprises the following three units:

  1. Foreign languages and cultures (Coordinator: Chrisavgi Papagianni)
  2. Greek language and culture (Coordinator: Anna Roussou)
  3. Greek sign language (Coordinator: Klimis Antzakas)
